The Many Breeds Of The Bulldog
There are many different breeds of bulldogs around the world. They range in size as well as temperament. When most people think of the bulldog they think of a fierce or vicious dog ready to fight at all times however that isn’t true of most bulldog breeds. These dogs can be protective and lovable just as easily as most other dogs are.
Boxer Bulldogs are one of the more commonly known breeds. These dogs are known for being alert when strangers come about yet they are still playful and somewhat trusted when children are around. A similar breed is the French Bulldog. These dogs are just smaller and known to be very compatible with children.
Pit Bull Terriers are also well known. These dogs are very energetic and require much attention. They are not to be trusted around strangers at times and if children are going to be around they should be socialized when the dog is a puppy or else issues could arise later on. Another breed that is very similar to the Pit Bull breed is the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. American Bulldogs are very similar to the Pit Bull breed. The difference is that American Bulldogs are also great workers and sometimes better with children. Bull Mastiffs are also similar however these dogs are much larger and stronger.
Olde English Bulldogges are know for their trustworthiness and stability. These dogs are typically in excellent health and easily trained. Contrary to what some people believe, this large dog is recommended to be an indoor living dog.
Valley Bulldogs are protectors. These dogs can be raised indoor and become the guard of your child automatically without training. Although these dogs have a reputation they are much like a human in the way they protect their human family, which is generally the only time they attack. These dogs are very playful and thrive on attention.
English Bulldogs (not to be confused with Olde English Bulldogges) are a smaller breed of bulldog. These dogs typically “lazy” and require less attention than others.
If you are considering a bulldog as a pet make sure you check into each one so you know that you are compatible with the breed first. These are not all the breeds of bulldogs but they are the most popular and most commonly owned.
